The Barouche is a new concept in water born leisure craft combining peace and tranquillity with great comfort and safety in a very compact package. Her 4 metre catamaran hulls are efficient, easily driven and with a modest 1.44 metre beam provide a very stable and unsinkable platform. The standard model is driven by a 24 volt Minn Kota “Riptide 80“ trolling motor and powered by 4 or up to 8 x 85 amp/hour deep cycle batteries situated under the seats giving her speed in excess of 4 knots at 75% power when fully loaded and a cruising speed of 3 knots @ 10 amps for 12 hours or nearly double that with 8 batteries. After a day’s cruising just plug in the charger and the batteries will be fully charged by the following morning.
click image to enlarge The Barouche is built to a very high standard from G.R.P. mouldings which show a great deal of thought and attention has gone into the detail. It is no coincidence that the seating module bears a striking resemblance to a 18th century open carriage, this is not merely a gimmick, the fact is her design is |
determined by similar parameters to look stylish, provide comfortable seating space with minimum wind resistance. The original Barouche was a sporty carriage designed for two couples to sit facing each other. Passengers in the new water born version can relax within a very sociable seating arrangement enjoying commanding views enhanced by the silence of electric drive leaving you an undisturbed appreciation of the countryside as the Barouche glides effortlessly through the water. The engine controls and tiller sit handily between the two forward facing seats which with the positive characteristics of the deep and narrow hulls give great confidence when manoeuvering in difficult situations.
